Onnum Onnum Rendu –

Onnum Onnum Rendu Lyrics

Version 2

Version 3

Onnum Onnum Rendu Meaning

A Tamil adding song: each line adds one more and tells you something that comes in that number.

“One and one make two: we have two eyes (kangal). Two and one make three: the three colours of our flag (kodi). Three and one make four: the four Vedas. Four and one make five: I am five years old now! Five and one make six: we have six senses (arivu). Six and one make seven: the seven colours of the rainbow (vaanavil).”

“Seven and one make eight: eight laddus on the plate! Eight and one make nine: the nine planets (kiragam) in the sky. Nine and one make ten: and now the time is ten o’clock!”

Versions 2 and 3 add numbers to themselves (two and two make four, three and three make six) with funny rhyming lines. Count on your fingers as you sing.
