Vattamana Thattu Meaning

A round plate (vattamana thattu) is full of laddus, eight laddus in all. Kittu broke off half of the eight and took them. The laddus that were left all went to his little sister Pattu, and she popped them into her mouth.

Kittu had four laddus, Pattu had four laddus, all eight are finished, and what is left? An empty plate (kaali thattu)! It is a sweet way to learn halves: count eight laddus, or eight small balls, and share them out with your child.
