Oodi vilayadu Pappa Bharathiyar Song Lyrics and Video
Odi Vilayadu Pappa Meaning
This is the famous children’s song by the poet Subramania Bharathiyar. “Run and play, little one (pappa), don’t sit idle! Play together with others, and don’t scold any child.”
“The cow that gives us milk is very good, and the dog that wags its tail is a friend to people. Never tell lies, and never speak ill of others behind their back. God is with us, so no harm will come. Study as soon as you wake up in the morning, then sing a sweet song, and play all evening. Make this your habit.”
The last verse carries Bharathiyar’s big message: “There is no caste, little one. Calling people high or low by birth is a sin. The great ones are those who are fair, wise, learned and full of love.” In the middle, the video also sings a few lines of his Puthiya Aathichoodi (achcham thavir, be without fear) and a Murugan song.
