Aane Banthondu Aane Meaning
“An elephant has come! Which town is it from? It is the elephant from Bijapur. Why did it come here? It lost its way.” In the English lines it brings copra and jaggery (kobri bella), shares it with all the children and then runs off.
The Kannada lines are the version many homes sing: the elephant wanders into the bathing room, eats ber fruit, goes to uncle’s house for raw mango and to aunt’s house for figs. Sing whichever version your family knows, and swing an arm like a trunk on every “aane”.
