Alile Alile Meaning
A child calls a squirrel (alilu) that is chattering “chim chim” up in the tree. “Squirrel, squirrel, come down from the tree, come happily! I have sugar (sakkare), jaggery (bella) and chakkuli. If you come I will give them to you, if not I will eat them all myself!”
“Come quickly and do a somersault (laaga haako)!” Kids enjoy the little threat in the middle, and the last line is a good moment for a jump.
