Kakke Kakke Koodevide Meaning
A child asks a crow (kakka): “Crow, crow, where is your nest (koodu)? Is there a little one inside your nest? If you do not feed your baby, it will lie there and cry.”
The crow answers with a question of her own: “Child, child, will you give me the neyyappam in your hand?” Neyyappam is the sweet fried rice cake made with jaggery and ghee. “No, I will not give you this neyyappam!” says the child. But the crow swoops down and grabs it anyway. “Ayyo! Crow, you tricked me!”
It is one of the first Malayalam rhymes children learn, and they love shouting the “ayyo” at the end.
