Lyrics in Kannada
Kaamanabillu Kamanu Kattide Meaning
Kaamanabillu is the Kannada word for the rainbow. In this school poem the rainbow has built an arch (kamanu) at the gateway (baagilu) of the land of clouds (modada naadu). It has made a festoon (torana) out of all its colours, a beautiful sight for every eye.
In the second verse it has gathered the gold of fruits and flowers and played okuli, the coloured water game, for the children. In the last verse it rises from the foot of the coconut grove and builds a bridge (setuve) between the earth and the sky.
Next time it rains while the sun is out, look for the rainbow together and count its seven colours.
