Poombattee Meaning
“Butterfly, butterfly (poombatte)! All the flowers have made a feast (virunnu) for you and are waiting.” When the morning light (vettam) came and tapped them, the flowers woke up with a start, and all the buds on their stems (njettu) burst open.
The little ants (katturumbu) climbed up and up, and all the buds burst out laughing (pottichirichu)!
Version 2 is a short question for the butterfly with flower-soft wings that comes flying, looking at the flowers: “When you go back after drinking the honey (poonthen), do you say ta-ta to the flower?”
